Where MERABI Began: The Story of the BELLA Jumpsuit
BELLA – the jumpsuit that started it all.
The BELLA Jumpsuit is a tried-and-true NADINE MERABI favourite, not only as one of our most-loved designs, but the start of the MERABI that is known today.
It all began with a vision. Nadine designed and made the first BELLA Black jumpsuit, fitting it on her best friend, Helen. But something felt unfinished. So, Nadine cut an extra piece of fabric and borrowed Helen’s cord choker (it was 2015 after all), threading it through the back to create a corset-style tie. That moment of improvisation became the signature design detail, and the finishing touch that completed the BELLA we know and love today.
From that very first prototype, BELLA quickly became a MERABI signature. Inspired by timeless Parisian elegance, the BELLA Jumpsuit reimagines a classic bodycon flared leg silhouette with a modern edge.
Designed to flatter, she’s crafted from embellished lace, adorned with sequins for maximum impact, a timeless blend of structure, sparkle, modesty, and drama.The nude lining offers subtle coverage while allowing the intricate, sequin-embellished lace to take centre stage. Crafted for versatility, BELLA can be styled with or without the signature leather corset belt.
To ensure BELLA offered a more inclusive appeal, Nadine later introduced both light nude and dark nude linings, thoughtfully designed to complement different skin tones while maintaining the MERABI iconic illusion effect.
As MERABI evolved, so did BELLA. In 2021, she arrived in a rich red hue and soft champagne colourway. Since then, we’ve refined the palette to our enduring monochromatic classics: black and white.
Born for big birthdays, date nights, and late nights, BELLA Black is an all-time classic, designed to be cherished and forever loved.
