Celebrating Diane: The Story Behind the Dress

The dress inspired by you.

At MERABI, inspiration comes from many places, but most of all from the women within our community. Our mission has always been to empower and celebrate women.

When I design, I’m often drawn to women who embody elegance, confidence and strength. This was certainly the case for DIANE. Many MERABI pieces have stories behind them, but this one is a favourite.

Earlier this summer, we received an email from the husband of our wonderful customer, Diane. He wrote to share his wife’s long-standing love for the brand, and his words deeply touched us. Diane has been a loyal MERABI customer for years, wearing our dresses, jumpsuits and pyjamas for countless occasions. She first discovered us while searching for a New Year’s Eve outfit for a dinner dance, and since then her pieces have become part of so many of her memories.

Reading this letter inspired us to create a wider range of full-coverage midi dresses and jumpsuits for women at every stage of life. And it also sparked something even more special; the DIANE Dress.

A velvet lace, long-sleeve midi design, complete with scalloped edges and an optional slip, the DIANE Dress was created by looking back at Diane’s own order history, studying the details she was drawn to time and again. It felt only right to design something in her honour.

We rang Diane personally to share the news about the dress, and I got to speak with her directly, it was such a joyful moment to celebrate her together.

Diane, this design is for you. It means so much to me to have the chance to honour you in this way. Your name is now part of our story, and I want to thank you for inspiring me. I hope this dress brings you joy each time you wear it.

The DIANE Dress is available in a rich Bordeaux burgundy and a timeless black for a modern take on the classic LBD. With Diane’s blessing, team MERABI gifted her both colourways as a token of gratitude. Going forward, I aspire to create many more designs with women like Diane in mind.
