What motivates you and your incredible work?

My motivation is my love for dance. It has always been a form of expression for me. When I dance, I feel fulfilled.

What is success to you?

Success to me is excelling at my personal best. I am always one who is always looking to grow and improve and as long as I feel that I did my personal best, then I feel like I succeeded.

What are your goals for the remainder of the year?

My goals for the remainder of the year are to be a little more understanding with myself. I am very much a perfectionist, which has helped me reach the level of dancing that I have; however, I am going to try harder to live in the moment rather than focus on what went wrong.

You were diagnosed with a severely herniated disc in your neck which nearly stopped you from dancing. Can you tell us more about this?

Yes! My injury definitely reminded me that life is precious and short. We must be grateful for the small things because you never know when they might be taken away. I am extremely thankful that I was able to come back and dance again even though a handful of doctors told me that would most likely never happen.

'This injury was one of the toughest things I have ever had to overcome physically and mentally. It took months and months of mental strength for my body to heal.'

You're clearly a fighter and stopping your passion, was clearly not an option.

How did you mentally get through this?

It was definitely one of the toughest things I have ever had to overcome. I had to dig really deep and was able to work on my whole self and not just who I am as a dancer. I did a lot of natural healing sessions, which definitely made a tremendous difference for me.

'I needed the time to focus on myself. I really think that's what ended up healing me in the end'

Tiler Peck

What challenges have you faced in the dance industry and how have you overcome them?

I think the biggest challenge in my profession is that there are so many talented dancers. Sometimes it is easy to fall into the trap of criticizing yourself and comparing yourself to another dancer. I try to always remind myself that healthy competition is a great way to help improve but that it is always best to focus on becoming your best self.

Thank you Tiler for taking the time to speak with us and share your incredible story. Your immense level of strength, resilience and determination to not let anything get in the way of living your passions inspires us all and we can’t wait to see what you do next and follow your journey.
