Leap Year Proposals

Leap Year Proposals

.Every 4 years, a leap year occurs. An old Irish folk law says that this is the day that women can propose to men. Originally, the extra day was added to the solar calendar to balance out the amount of time it takes the Earth to circle the sun. However, legend says that in the 5th century, Ireland, St.Patrick declared that women could propose on this day in February during the leap year, after receiving complaints that women had to wait too long for men to propose. The tradition went even further to say that if a man declined the proposal then he would have to pay a fine, ranging from a kiss to a silk dress or a pair of gloves.
.
Fast forward to 2020 and we know what you're thinking... women should be able to propose any day of the year, right? Even though the tradition is a little dated, there's still something extra special about this day that keeps us gals proposing!
.
If you're planning on proposing this year, we want to hear your story. Send us a message on instagram or write to us at hello@nadinemerabi.com. And don't worry - we know he'll say yes.
