Can you wear heels on a cruise?

So we have already established that you can absolutely wear heels on a cruise. In fact, you can wear pretty much any shoes you like. Remember that the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and look your best!

There are a variety of events and occasions that you may want to wear heels for on a cruise.

Let's dive right in and take a look at a few of them.

Formal nights and gala dinners

If there is one thing that cruises are famous for, it is their formal evenings where all passengers get dressed and enjoy a night of good food and entertainment. This is the perfect opportunity for you to grab your favourite occasion wear and a pair of heels.

It is entirely up to you what type of heel you decide to go for, whether you prefer a pair of black block heels that are easier to walk in or colourful stilettos that will add a few inches to your height. Whichever heels you go for, they’ll look sophisticated and glamorous at a gala event or formal evening onboard your cruise ship.

And, the great thing is heels look fantastic with dresses, jumpsuits and all the formal outfits you can think of!

Dining out

Cruise ships are also well-known for offering a variety of delicious cuisines and dining options. So, whether you want to get dressed up and eat in the fine dining options or have a laid-back evening at a casual restaurant, cruise ships have it all.

But, if you did plan on dining at one of the fancy restaurants, then heels are definitely part of the dress code. Not only will you fit right in, but a pair of heels will elevate your outfit to a whole new level.

Evening entertainment

From casino nights to live music and theatre productions, cruise ships have it all when it comes to entertainment options. But you don’t need to worry about what to wear, as pretty much anything goes.

Heels are perfect if you want to add a touch of glamour to your outfit. For example, a pair of gold heels would look perfect with the LOUISA White Dress. With the square neckline and thigh-high split, you will look (and feel) like cruise ship royalty.

Top tip: Make sure you choose a pair of heels that you can comfortably walk and dance in. You will likely be on your feet for a while during these events, and the last thing you want is for foot pains to ruin your evening!

Land excursions

Another time that you may wear heels on a cruise is when you are going to shore to explore the different locations you are travelling through. Though, you may find that heels aren’t the best choice if you are exploring the area on foot or engaging in outdoor activities, such as kayaking or hiking.

But if you are keen to try the different restaurants and bars in the area, then a pair of wedges or heels would be a great footwear option.

When it comes to finding the right pair of heels for a cruise, you do need to consider a few things first. Of course, the most important thing is comfort. While you may want to elongate your legs with sky-high stilettos, if you can’t walk in them or they cause you discomfort, then you aren’t going to enjoy the experience. So think carefully about the heels you pack and perhaps have a nice pair of flats as backup.

We would also recommend that you consider the colour and style of your heels. If you’re trying to pack light, then take neutral tones such as nude, beige or black that can be paired with multiple different outfits.
